The DividendTrader newsletter is changing. There is still the most important information in our spreadsheet of upcoming dividends, but we are adding more commentary as well as other information in the form of an extract from our trading diary - see below for this week's edition.
As mentioned in previous emails, we will be moving to a user pays model for our newsletter in order to cover the costs of publishing our reports. Premium subscribers will get our trades sent via email soon after they happen. Free subscribers will get a summary later - possibly too late to follow the trades.
Other business commitments have delayed this move a bit longer than expected. In the meantime we will continue with the free newsletter.
Our Trading Diary.
We are now well into the second half of this dividend seasonand the pickings are thinning out quickly. We are down to 52 div stocks on the list and of those only about 8 are worthy contenders.
Of those that have gone ex div, CAB did not come back down to our buy level, so we will move on from that one now.
ASX has moved up nicely from our buy level of $33.40 to close at $35.50 on Friday. We grabbed a larger than usual position with ASX and have now taken the profit on half of that position. That gave us a gain of 6.2% on ASX and loss of 3.4% on the partial hedge for a gross profit of around 3.5% in 3 days. If the price differential closes as expected, we will look to take the rest of the profits, but if it opens further again we will look to re-enter the other half of that position again. Regular readers will probably have a fair idea of our targets.
We also re-entered WOR on Friday at $29.23. It is a long while after the ex div date but there looks to be a good chance of a 5% or so gain there as WOR rebounds yet again.
COF goes ex div on 12/10 so we are looking to re-enter there on a spike downwards some time this week. The price differential compared to xjo is also favourable now
